Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program

Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Program is the only program in New Hampshire designed to address the special health considerations of adult patients diagnosed with heart defects as children.

Our goal is to provide patients with seamless continuity of care for every stage of life, helping to advance our patients' health and preserve their lives.

The ACHD Program bridges pediatric and adult cardiac care and features:

  • Practitioners trained and experienced in both patient populations
  • A dedicated pediatric ultrasound, registered pediatric sonographers, and cardiologists specially trained in non-invasive cardiac MRI imagery
  • Comprehensive wrap around services including prenatal testing and genetic counseling, high-risk obstetrical care, and fetal echocardiography

Who should refer to the ACHD Program:

  • Primary care providers (Internal/Family Medicine, OB/GYN) of patients who have been diagnosed and/or treated for a congenital heart defect in childhood
  • Cardiologists seeking consultation from practitioners trained in the special health considerations of this patient population
  • Pediatricians and family practitioners of older children (ages 16-18) diagnosed with congenital heart disease who are ready to transition to adult care
  • Adults of any age diagnosed with congenital heart disease seeking comprehensive cardiac care
