Welcome to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) Department of Anesthesiology. DHMC is a state-of-the- art 400-bed full-service academic medical and Level I trauma center located on our scenic campus in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Anesthesiology was established as a specialty at Dartmouth in 1941 and as an independent department in 1989. Our physician anesthesiologists and our nurse anesthetists are members of the faculty of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College.
Our medical center is in an idyllic area of Northern New England where exceptional cultural, academic and recreational activities are readily available. We live in a friendly four-season community, known as the Upper Valley (of the Connecticut River), where natural beauty abounds. The DHMC Department of Anesthesiology offers a full range of clinical anesthesia, critical care, and pain medicine services to patients. Read our 2016 report here. Our trainees learn in a nurturing environment that supports intellectual development and emphasizes wellness and patient safety. We value clinical care, administrative ability, education, and research.
The members of our department are talented, caring, smart, and deeply committed to patient safety and clinical quality. I am sincerely proud of our department and glad that you are visiting our website. Please learn more about us and feel free to contact my colleagues or me if you have questions about our department or our programs.
