As a leader in education and research for health professionals, the CME Program in the D-H CLPD has a mission to assist physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, other health care professionals, and health care teams in meeting their commitments to lifelong learning and improving their individual and collective competence, performance, and patient outcomes. We meet our mission by generating unbiased educational activities and interventions designed to change competence, performance, and/or patient outcomes and, where possible, improve population health.
To advance health and improve patient care and population health through health sciences education and research.
To achieve the healthiest population possible, leading the transformation of health sciences education and research in our region, and setting the standard for our nation. We do this by striving to change and evaluate our learners’ competence and performance and those changes with improvements in patient outcomes and population health.
Accreditation with Commendation
The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) has awarded Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H)/The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth their highest academic designation, "Accreditation with Commendation," for Dartmouth's Continuing Medical Education Program. This designation places D-H's collective academic organizations (Geisel School of Medicine, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic, Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, and the Veteran Affairs Medical Center) in the top tier of accredited programs in the country. The decision is based on a self-study report, evidence of performance in practice, and an accreditation interview, all of which took place during 2011.
