Most patients are referred to the center by another physician. An evaluation is done by an epilepsy specialist in the Department of Neurology, who, when appropriate, works collaboratively with colleagues in the Section of Neurosurgery. Center physicians work closely with the referring physician throughout the patient care process. Many patients are treated successfully as outpatients, while others need to be admitted to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Patients have access to a greater range of treatment options through our series of clinical trials for epilepsy.
