The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals with the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course may be utilized by certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals. There are two options for completing the course:
- A traditional class that consists of 4.5 hours for the initial (or "full") course or 4 hours for the re-certification class. Please see the list below to self-enroll.
- A hybrid online class that allows the student to complete the learning, practice and written exam online and the practicum ("hands-on") in class with an instructor. Please contact Life Support to request the link.
Heartsaver First Aid, CPR/AED
The AHA's Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, and AED courses are for workplace or community training. First Aid courses are designed to meet OSHA requirements. Heartsaver courses are taught independently by AHA instructors affiliated with DHMC. Please contact us so that we may assist in connecting you with Heartsaver instructors.
