Falls Prevention

Many people believe that falling is an inevitable part of aging, but it is not. You CAN reduce your risk of falling. To learn more, visit the NH Falls Task Force site, which has resources for individuals, families, and healthcare providers.

The Northern New England Geriatric Education Center supports an Falls Clinic twice each month. It offers an opportunity to follow a patient who has been deemed at risk for falls as he or she is assessed by an interdisciplinary team, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Learners are welcome from a broad array of healthcare fields, whether you are in practice or are a student. You do not have to be affiliated with Dartmouth to participate.

We also support a MD Falls Assessment Trainer, who can visit your primary care practice and provide a one-hour training on falls assessment.

To learn more about either of these programs, please email geriatric.ed@dartmouth.edu or call (603) 653-3443.
