What made you interested in applying to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Otolaryngology Surgical Physician Assistant Post-Graduate Residency program?

I wanted to do an Otolaryngology Surgical PA Residency program because I wanted to build a skill set that exceeded traditional training, and to be exposed Otolaryngology across the spectrum of care delivery settings including inpatient, outpatient, and surgical experiences. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is one of the best hospitals in the Upper Valley and has a nationwide reputation for excellence in patient care.

The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Otolaryngology PA Surgical Residency program offers an invaluable opportunity to learn from an experienced and supportive team of providers. I was in love in the area from the moment of my first visit! DHMC is located in the scenic Upper Valley, with the White Mountains in New Hampshire to the north and the Green Mountains in Vermont to the West. Whether you're skiing, hiking, biking, or just looking for a new adventure, there is so much to do in New England.

What do you enjoy most about the Otolaryngology Surgical PA Residency program?

The physicians and residents are hands on with their teaching and they want you to be successful. The providers are very passionate about their work and love to teach about their specialty, and that's reflected in the quality of the education we receive.

In the short period of time since I started, I have assisted in procedures both in the clinic and in the operating room. I also became certificated on the da Vinci Surgical System to use in the operating room. The da Vinci Surgical System is a robotic surgical system designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach, and is controlled by a surgeon from a console. Getting to work with such a complex piece of equipment has been an invaluable learning experience, and is a unique opportunity that this program has to offer.

This program has provided me with the necessary training to improve as a care provider, and I now have the confidence to better serve my patients. The Otolaryngology section is outstanding, and they are dedicated to my learning and my future career as a PA in Otolaryngology. I work with the best surgeons!
