Surgical pathologists provide comprehensive diagnoses on specimens from all body sites and tissue types (including cytopathology and autopsy pathology).
In the interpretation of a specimen diagnosis, multiple ancillary testing techniques may be used including special histochemical stains, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in-situ hybridization, flow cytometry, molecular genetics, cytogenetics and electron microscopy.
